Teeva

Equestrian Series:
The first installment in the Equestrian series is a portrait painting of Teeva. I love horses but more from a distance as I am a little nervous by their size. The last time I was riding a horse was when I was in Alberta on a summer holiday at the age of seven. The horses have a real personality about them, and that is what I try to capture in the portrait - their spirit or spunk. Teeva is a perfect example of that. She will do anything for her favourite stud muffin.

This work is done in the fine detailed pen&ink pointillism or stipple technique. The attempt here with the detail is in the steady blending of the smooth silkiness of her skin. The portrait is much larger than the wildlife series and has a finer grain to the number of dots per square inch. Anyone interested in counting the dots?
